First Visit to the Dentist
FIRST VISIT TO THE DENTIST
As recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and for our office as well, starting around age 1, your child should have regular dental checkups every 6 months. We recognize that every child is unique. Therefore, we can choose from a variety of approaches to make the first visit comfortable and fun for your son or daughter. The first visit will last about 45 minutes. The dentist will examine your child’s teeth, gums, and jaws; check for any signs of problems; and show you the right way to clean and care for your child’s teeth. We may clean your child’s teeth and apply fluoride varnish.
‘Pictures’ (Digital X-rays) may be taken. We will definitely give your child lots of prizes to build a positive dental attitude. Parents are welcome to either relax in the reception or accompany their child to the treatment area.
Please, refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as”hurt”,”shot”, "needle", “drill”, "pull". Our staff makes a practice of using words that convey the same message, but are pleasant and non-frightening to the child.
